The media are finally beginning to realize the incredible abuse of animals that goes on behind the scenes in circuses. ARFF, the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, has been protesting the Ringling Bros circus, and this is probably the reason for a WESH News report on the Ringling Bros circus. Read below for a message from ARFF organizers.

January wrapped up a state wide outreach effort against Ringling Bros Circus . With your help we reached thousands of circus goers with leaflets and dvd's, handing out close to 10,000 leaflets in central and north Florida alone! People coming and /or leaving the circus watched undercover Ringling footage on ARFF TV.

Ringling attendance was lower than we have ever seen and patrons were coming out telling us how disappointed they were with the show. Years ago in Orlando they would bring in bus loads of people. The buses no longer come. The protests got state wide media coverage allowing ARFF to be an even louder voice for the animals. We had numerous people who came out and thanked everyone for being there and some who said "you're right, I DID see the bullhooks during the show" Young people watched the video and said they never want to go to a circus again.

Opening night some of you may remember a camera man there with the media getting footage of all of us at the protest. That was part of story about Ringling Bros and the abuse by Ch 2 [Ch. 4 on Bright House] investigative reporters.

animals. Thanks to those who braved the cold, wind, canceled plans to attend, traveled around the state with us to protest, and stayed even when they were almost too exhausted to stand, into the night. For the animals, THANK YOU! Their voices would not be heard without you!
