Factory Farming

Factory farming is one of the cruelest industries in the world. Maximizing profit and resources leads to outrageously inhumane treatment of animals, polluted air & groundwater from improper sewage treatment, and breeding of new diseases with antibiotic resistance.

Animal agriculture today resembles an auto factory more than it does farms. Animals are treated merely as commodities, not conscious beings. This idea of an animal as a machine, not a being, permeates modern food production. The cruel treatment that this brings spans the spectrum of animal food production, from cow meat to pig meat to milk to eggs, and so on.

"Family farms" have fallen steadily since World War II to corporate giants with profits as their sole concern. For the past few decades, factory farms have constituted nearly all animal agriculture in the USA and other developed nations. Wilbur and Charlotte are not to be found in most of today's food production.

Please educate yourself on the reality so that you may make an informed and compassionate choice. Be someone who will stand up against injustice and fight one's own inner prejudices. Choose to pass on the steak and eggs, and instead grab the veggie bean burrito, a nice plate of spaghetti, or a spicy Indian dish. A vegan or vegetarian diet is a great way to vote with your wallet.
